In conjunction with the update of Newtown’s Plan of Conservation and Development, the Planning and Zoning Commission asked its consultant, Harrall-Michalowski Associates, Inc. (HMA) to undertake a public opinion survey of Newtown residents. The purpose of the survey was to provide the Commission with resident input on quality of life, local issues, community character, residential and economic development, environmental issues, use of open space, community facilities and taxes.
The telephone survey was conducted between May 21st to May 25th, 2002 by the Center for Research & Public Policy (CRPP). CRPP worked together with the Commission, its staff and HMA to design the survey. CRPP completed a total of 401 interviews with Newtown residents.
The following links provide you with the survey report, the telephone survey questionnaire, a cross-tabulation table and a composite of data frequencies. The survey results will be used by the Commission in setting community goals and objectives as part of the final phases of the Plan of Conservation and Development.
