Email: email@example.com USCG Auxiliary 24-3 is offering free Vessel Safety Checks on Sunday, May 28th.
The Vessel Safety Checks will be held on Sunday May 28th, starting at 9am through 2pm. USCG Auxiliary 24-3 Milford Flotilla will be doing Safety Checks at Village Marina 40 Bridgeport Avenue in the Devon section of Milford. Boaters are welcome to dock at the marina to get a VSC for their watercraft. The Flotilla will have a display table with information which covers all the basic topics involved in the safe operation of recreational boating and seamanship and safe personal watercraft operation. .
Boats that pass the examination are awarded a distinctive VSC Decal that alerts the Coast Guard, Harbor Patrol, and other law-enforcement agencies that your boat was found to be in full compliance with all Federal and State boating laws. Frequently, such agencies will not detain or board boats displaying a current-year decal that are otherwise operating safely.
Boating enthusiasts can sign up for one of the courses in basic boat handling and safety which are offered by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary; check their boat’s safety equipment and make sure all required equipment is aboard; prepare their boats by scheduling a vessel safety check with their local U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary; make sure everyone – even experienced swimmers – wear a properly fitting U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket appropriate for water activity; and pledge to continue the spirit of “Safe Boating” throughout the entire boating season.
