Dog Licenses

2019 dog tag

The new 2019 licenses are now available at the Town Clerk’s office
Newtown dog owners that have dogs six (6) months of age and over must be
licensed annually during the month of June.

Per CT General Statute Sec.22-338 the State of Connecticut requires that all dogs must have Rabies vaccinations.  Therefore, when licensing a dog it will be necessary to present current Rabies vaccination certificate, not the tag, and if licensing a dog for the first time, it will be necessary to present the spaying or
neutering certificate in order to obtain the lower license fee.

The fees are:
$8.00 for a neutered male or spayed female
$19.00 for unaltered dogs.

Licenses may be ordered by mail
Send a self-addressed stamped envelope with a check or money order for the proper amount.
Mail to:  Town Clerk’s Office, 3 Primrose Street, Newtown, CT 06470
**If your dog is not on file with us from previous year, we will require the following information:
Rabies certificate, spay or neuter certificate, owner’s name, phone number, address, dog’s name, breed, age of dog, color markings and sex of dog.
