Veterans Discharge Tax Credit DD 214

Under C.G.S. 12-81, sub-heading 19, Veterans of the Armed Services who served in time of war are eligible for an exemption on the assessment of their real estate or their motor vehicle.
For eligibility a veteran must file his/her service record (usually a DD-214 form-ORIGINALS ONLY-) on record in the Town Clerk’s office. The Assessor’s office maintains a listing of  “Time of War” or conflict periods that qualify the veteran for the exemption.

The cut-off date is October 1st in order for it to affect your following July's tax bill.
