The Newtown Fire Marshal’s Office is staffed by one (1) full time Fire Marshal, one (1) full time Administrative Assistant and Five (5) part time Deputy Marshals.
The Fire Marshal’s are responsible for inspecting all occupancies in Newtown with the exception of 1 and 2 family dwellings, investigating all fires, issue blasting permits and inspect blasting sites, issue burning permits, issue permits and inspect underground oil tank removals, review plans for construction, additions and renovations to all buildings except 1 and 2 family dwellings, review new subdivisions and commercial sites for the installation of hydrants, dry hydrants and fire suppressions tanks, and assist the public with any fire / safety issue.
Also at the office are several Fire Safety handouts which are free to the public.
