NEWTOWN SOFTBALL 10U & 12U STARTS

Newtown Softball Camp is an engaging, fun and instructive experience. The camp is designed for players who are in the U10 or U12 age group as defined by Babe Ruth Leagues (ages 9 -12 as of January 1; DOB 2008-2011). All skill levels are welcome. The daily schedule will be divided into distinct teaching “blocks” including: Skills Clinic emphasizing game fundamentals including offensive batting elements (stance, stride, bunting), defensive fielding (positions & footwork, infield ground balls, outfield pops, relay throw, proper ball grip), and base running/sliding. Contests & Drills designed to emphasize game fundamentals.Live Games: Players will be divided into teams for a full, “pick up” style game with camp instructors umpiring the action. Campers will receive a t-shirt and daily prizes for skills competitions will be awarded. Players should plan to pack plenty of water and snacks (nut free). All field equipment provided by league (liners, bases, pitching machine, nets, etc.).Players should have their own bats and helmets as well as catching gear (if applicable). League has inventory of equipment if player needs to borrow. Cleats and softball pants are highly recommended. Camp directed by Newtown Babe Ruth Softball team coaches and instructors. Our coaching staff includes many current and former college players as well as experience volunteer coaches.
