Transfer Station

As of July 1st, 2025
Permits are mandatory to use the Transfer Station and are free of charge
You must show license and car registration.
All Permits must be renewed, residents will be receiving brand new permit stickers.
The Newtown issued Blue Bags will be the only garbage bags allowed at the Transfer Station.
All Blue Bags can be purchased anytime at the Transfer Station starting July 1st.
Bulky Waste is free of charge to Newtown Residents with valid permit
Bag Prices
13 Gallon - $1.05 per bag/ sold by the box or roll (10 bags in roll)
32 Gallon - $2.60 per bag/ sold by the box or the roll (10 bags in roll)
55 Gallon - $4.40 per bag/ sold by the roll (10 bags in roll)
RECYCLING BINS:
- You can return Town Recycling Bins to the Transfer Station (if you wish to return them)
- If you have switched to bringing recycling to the Transfer Station, you can continue to use the bins to help haul your items. (If you are in need of a new recycling bin we still have some at the Highway Department at this time).
- The Highway Department is located at 4 Turkey Hill Road - 7:00 a.m. through 4:30 p.m.
Permit DOES NOT include CD (Construction and Demolition). CD is defined as any fencing, dimensional lumber (2x4, 2x6, 4x4), Plywood, Drywall, Shingles or any roofing material, tile vanity, sink or toilet. CD is $95 per cubic yard.
Concrete, Mortar, Brick or Blocks are NOT accepted at the Newtown Transfer Station
RECYCLING AT THE TRANSFER STATION - Free to all Newtown Residents; Cardboard, Mixed Recycling, Glass, Metal, Mattresses, Tires (maximum 4 per household)
