NEWTOWN SOFTBALL 8U STARTS
Mondays-Thursdays, June 21 to June 24
Newtown Softball Camp is an engaging, fun and instructive experience. The camp is designed for players who are in the 8U age group as defined by Babe Ruth Leagues (ages 6 -8 as of January 1; DOB 2012-2014). All skill levels are welcome. The daily schedule will be divided into distinct teaching “blocks” including: Skills Clinic emphasizing game fundamentals for the young player including proper throwing grip, batting stance, throwing release, fielding the ball, base running and defensive stance. Contests & Drills: Fun contests designed to reinforce skills lessons. Live Games: Players will be divided into teams for a full, “pick up” style game with camp instructors umpiring the action. Campers will receive a t-shirt and daily prizes for skills competitions. Players should plan to pack plenty of water and snacks. All field equipment provided by league (liners, bases, pitching machine, nets, etc.).Players should have their own bats and helmets as well as catching gear (if applicable). League has inventory of equipment if player needs to borrow. Cleats and softball pants are highly recommended. Camp directed by Newtown Babe Ruth Softball team coaches and instructors. Our coaching staff includes many current and former college players, as well as experience volunteer coaches.
