Post-Storm Update – Tuesday, July 7, 2026
Newtown’s Emergency Management Team, which includes the First Selectman, Police, Fire, EMS, Dispatch and Public Works, continues to work around the clock with Eversource and our Public Works Department to restore services and clear roads after the recent storm. We are pleased to report significant progress over the past 24 hours.
Current Status:
Power Outages: Reduced to approximately 220 homes (down substantially from earlier estimates). Eversource crews are actively working in the remaining affected areas.
Road Closures: Only one roadway remains fully closed – Honey Lane. All other roads are now open.
Public Works teams continue debris removal and are conducting final safety checks.
We appreciate your patience as we complete these final restorations. Crews are expected to remain on site throughout the evening and into tomorrow.
