BUDGET 2026-2027

Municipal budgeting is the foundational blueprint for a community’s governance and quality of life. Unlike a simple spreadsheet of expenses, a town budget is a policy document that reflects the values and priorities of its residents. It ensures fiscal accountability by mandating that public funds are spent transparently and efficiently to provide essential services—such as education, public safety, infrastructure maintenance, and social services.

The Town of Newtown's budget process is laid out in its Charter Chapter 6. A brief Budgeting 101 is available on the Town's streaming channel Vimeo here.
