Police Security Video Sharing Program

The Newtown Police Department would like to collaborate with all community members in a new crime fighting initiative. We are looking for residents and business owners with external security cameras who would be willing to share that information with us and register with the Newtown Police Department. This will give Newtown Police another mechanism of quickly gathering information on crimes that happen in the community. This database will help Newtown Police gather information more easily, rather than conducting door-to-door canvases, where homeowners might not be available or realize something has happened in their neighborhood.

What is it?

A voluntary program where residents and business owners provide basic information about their security camera systems. The information will be kept confidential and be used for official police purposes only. The information will be used in the event an incident occurs in a specific area and officers need to contact the registered residence or business for further investigative purposes.  Newtown police will not have direct use of your camera system or access to any video footage you have.

Business owners and community members with exterior security cameras who would like to register can complete an online registration form below.
